The Beginning of a New Chapter.....

I will be doing my internship in Prince of Wales hospital surgery, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Medicine, United Christian hospital Surgery and Medicine in the coming year...really looking forward to this challenging year ahead!

I finally graduated after 5 years!~

This marks an end of a chapter, but it is just the beginning of many chapters to come.

Looking back, there has been times of happiness and frustration throughout these 5 years, but overall it has been a very fruitful experience being a medical student.

I feel really blessed, being given the chance to get into medical school which has always been my dream, study hard and play hard at the same time, getting to know some good friends, tennis teammates.

May I have the perseverance to keep the fire burning inside of me, and have both healing hands and a healing heart to do my very best for my patients in the many years to come!

I just love labour ward!!!

Though it's surely tiring......staying there from 8am to nearly 7pm every day in the past week, it was just such an exciting experience.

All newborns are just so cute, especially those who are born 'bigger than others'...like 9kg...so now I know how 'fat' and how 'big' my head was when I was born!

The mid-wives are also very nice....everyone of them is different. Some like to 'inch' you, but then they'll teach you back, so basically they 'inch' you just for the sake that they like to 'inch' medical students I guess, haha.

And the most exciting thing of all is....I got to take part in the actually delivery process of a baby today! (of course under the guidance of a mid-wife). The mid-wife was so good, she basically let me do every step, from pushing the baby's head down, guarding the perineum, pushing down and pulling down the head while the anterior shoulders were delivered, clamping and cutting the umbilical cord, and taking out the placenta by controlled cord traction...though of course she did take over during a critical moment when the mother wasn't able to push any further with the head 'trapped' at the outlet.

So afterall, labour ward is surely a place full of joy...and I'll surely miss the time there! But now I really wanna sleep, sleep and sleep after not sleeping much in the past week!

The 'post-exam' feeling is just so great!!! You just don't have to worry about anything, I just did what I want today, ate what I wanted....I'm just loving it!

I'm so blessed. Thank God!
